When our very own basket arrived this week, we were super excited! I got the call that the delivery man had arrived, and I rushed to the door to accept it. After a friendly exchange (it was a lovely personal delivery company, represented by a spirited older man) we took our basket into the house.
At first, we just set it down on the table and looked at it. The only thing I dislike about gift baskets is that they are just too pretty to look at and I always feel bad to ruin the display by tearing them open! But, I guess it’s the same as any holiday gift.
After we got our visual fill, we finally decided to open up the wrapping. Slowing lifting the basket out of the plastic wrap, we set it back on the table. It still looked lovely (phew!).
Next, we started going through all of the items, reading each of the labels and looking at the product inside. Everything looked very high-end and delicious.
First up on the menu? David’s milk chocolate all natural California Walnut Praline Crunch. There are no words to describe this gourmet treat.
There are a lot of chocolate covered snacks available these days; chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered popcorn, etc; all chocolate snacks with a salty interior. However, none of these drab snacks will ever be able to compare to David’s Praline Crunch! My first few bites were for getting used to the rich taste; there was a lot of flavour to take in. I tasted the chocolate, then I focused on the salty bit. After a few more pieces the two started to blend together into one amazing symphony of flavour in my mouth. My taste-buds were singing.
That was just the beginning.
Other items in the basket included…
All natural Java Cinnamon Pastry Twists which were almost as mouth-watering as the praline crunch. They had an entirely different crispy taste with the perfect amount of cinnamon spice. I can imagine that they would be great for dipping in a hot beverage.
Organic, gluten free Jasmine Rice Crackers with Spring Onion and a smooth tasting Theobroma stick. I have yet to taste these two personally, but I think the crackers will make a suitable afternoon snack, and will be easy to pack up as a lunch to-go.
All natural, organic Onion Blossom and Horseradish Dip and All natural Bing Cherries splashed with Brandy. The cherries have such a rich flavour, that you can really only eat one at a time. I would definitely love to try layering them on a cheese cake!
Organic, gluten free Maple Syrup roasted Mixed Nuts and All natural Dark Chocolate covered Strawberries. The mixed nuts were like a whole new ball game of tastes. I never imagined what a maple syrup nut would taste like, but I can tell you now–I want more! I wish these things were sold in every store. And, do I really even need to talk about the strawberries? I mean come on. Chocolate. Covered. Strawberries. And dark chocolate, at that.
All natural, gluten free Caramel Crunch with Belgian Chocolate and Pistachios and Organic Dried Cranberries, sweetened with Apple Juice. Pistachio desserts always remind me of a summer that I spent in Turkey, so these really brought me back. I imagined myself relaxing on a Bosphorus-side patio in Istanbul, enjoying a lovely afternoon snack. And if you love anything cran-apple, you will love these berries!
Thanks for entering and good luck! Happy holidays from everyone at I Heart Toronto and Healthy Gourmet Gifts!
